As an original member of Mantra Youth Percussion, Jozie has premiered numerous new works by composers in the NYC area, as part of the sound the NYTimes called “ear-opening”. Her most recent project, the soundtrack for His Cinderella Story, premiered in March of 2022, featuring her composition, recording, and production.
Teaching Experience: Josephine started teaching at Music&Arts this year. As music director of Vocal Point, Jozie has led clinics with high school choirs and acappella groups in her hometown. She also volunteered as a student teacher at Summer Music Academy in Ridgewood, NJ for several years, working with instrumental ensembles and beginner students, under the mentorship of professional instructors.
Teaching Philosophy: Josephine’s teaching philosophy is based on a collaborative approach: by focusing on music her student wants to learn, the skills behind the music-making process are developed in a way tailored to her student’s goals. Lessons serve the intention to hone one’s craft, so for the musical study of creative expression, a co-created curriculum produces the most consistent framework for sustainable growth.
