Performance Experience: Regularly performing with current students and enjoying the fruits of former students performing in many formats - concert halls, pop tours, etc.
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching since my orchestra director asked for help with the beginning strings classes in my small hometown more than 30 years ago. Teaching has now taken me all across the USA and internationally to meet aspiring young people committed to improving their current musical level.
Teaching Philosophy: Music is a beautiful gift that can be given to ourselves and to others at every level of performance and in every performance venue.
Music is, for me, a way of seeing the world and how people and subjects interact.
Get to know Julia Gray-Lion
I first learned music singing at my house with my parents and then pushing the piano keys on their piano at the house.
Formal instruction started as a part of my public school orchestra program where I faced the difficult decision between starting Violin or French Horn. I'm so glad I chose Violin!
My orchestra teachers and private lesson instructors were pivotal in both my instrumental and musical skill developments as well as understanding how to transition from public school to higher education to professional opportunities and continuing education.
