      Layne Hopkins is a trumpet and low brass teacher who creates structured, encouraging lessons that help students build strong fundamentals while enjoying the process of making music. She teaches beginner to intermediate trumpet and beginner to advanced low brass students, focusing on sound production, technique, duets, and performance preparation while incorporating music that keeps students engaged and motivated. With experience in classical music, jazz ensembles, and marching band settings, Layne encourages students to develop critical listening skills and evaluate their own playing, helping them become confident, independent musicians. Whether preparing for school band auditions, concerts, or simply getting a head start on their musical journey, students receive personalized guidance in a fun and supportive environment. Layne earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Maryland.
