Get to know Mary Stone
Mary Stone, a talented multi-instrumentalist, has been studying music since the age of 5. Her first instrument studied was piano at age 5, followed by flute at age 9, piccolo at age 15 and vocal training at age 16. She received the Floyd Myrick Acheivement Award for Music her Sophomore year in High School, The United States Achievement Academy Award for Music her Junior year in high school, the Bank America Award for Music her Senior year in High School and nominated for The McDonalds All American High School Marching Band her Senior year in high school; two music scholarships from Cal-Poly Pomona from where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music with emphasis in piano performance in 1990. She is currently a member of the Pomona Concert Band(Principal Piccolo), Windsong Southland Chorale(Alto), and is Alto section leader at LaVerne Heights Presbyterian Church. She has also played with the Cypress Community Orchestra and the Claremont Community Orchestra. She is a recognized member of the IAW(International Association of Women).
