Get to know Michael DeMarco
Michael Gregory DeMarco began studying percussion at age 12 and has continued his journey to learn and grow as a musician ever since. Michael graduated with honors from the College of Performing Arts at The New School with a BFA in Jazz Drum Performance. Michael was also awarded with the John and Alice Coltrane Award of Excellence by the College of Performing Arts. He will be attending the Rome School of Music, Drama and Art at Catholic University and will be seeking a M.M. in Composition with an Emphasis in Concert Music.
Michael. is an independent artist who prides himself on being both a drummer and composer. From Be-bop to Fusion and Pop to Rock, Michael infuses multiple genres into his music. Michael’s discography includes four albums released on multiple streaming services. His newest addition, “Layers,” features all original compositions. A new album release is anticipated this summer. Currently, Michael plays in two different groups. Michael composes for and performs in a Musical Project called TAGEVED Collective, whose musical stylings span from modern jazz to progressive rock. DDP trio is a saxophone, electric bass, and drum set ensemble blending bebop stylings with live electronic sampling and seeking to blur the lines between modern jazz and electronic music.
Be it performance, composition, or teaching, Michael is dedicated to constantly learning and bettering himself. Through his own endeavors, Michael strives to help others learn in any way he can.
