About Michael Mattingly

MIKE HAS OVER 25 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTOR AND EVEN LONGER AS A PERFORMER.  

His field of expertise is comprised of Rock, Jazz, Blues, Country and Classical and his ability to accentuate the principles of music in a fun environment is showcased through the longevity and success of his career and that of his students.

Beginning guitar lessons at age eleven in Richland, WA, Mike has continued his studies throughout his entire career.  He is an accomplished guitarist that has shared the stage with the likes of Joe Williams, Jon Hendricks, Taylor Hawkins, Roger Daltry, Alan White, Maroon 5, Trevor Rabin, just to name a few.

He currently performs with the band, Herding Cats, which he co-founded over 18 years ago as well as an instrumental electric trio called Ecstasy In Numbers which features many of his own compositions. Although Mike is also a professional guitarist, his true passion is teaching!  Mike's student age range is from 6-86 years old and he is thrilled to be able to share his techniques, experience and knowledge with all of them!
