About Neva Self

I would like to be a positive influence on my students, regardless of age, whether they’re taking lessons to have fun or thinking of pursuing a career in music. I want music to enhance their lives, as it has mine.

Hello, my name is Neva Self.

I teach piano and voice. I have been teaching for 28 years in around and the Nashville area. At age 13, I was making regular appearances on the “Country Boy Eddie Show,” the early morning television program from which Tammy Wynette launched her career. I was also a regular on “Dean and Company”, a local cable access variety show. At age 15, I joined Gene Porter and his band playing clubs in and around Birmingham. I moved to Nashville in 1992 and immediately immersed myself in the music community. In addition to performing on television, I have also performed on local popular radio including “Live at Libby’s”.

Although Country Music is my first love, I am versatile in other genres of music from Broadway to Gospel. I feel I can pass on not only my years of experience performing but valued information for those students interested in pursuing a career in music.
