Performance Experience: -Worked with three worship teams in a variety of instruments, and coordinating with musicians extensively for 9 years
-Participated in worship collaboration thought the Inland Empire
- Participated with the University of California, Riverside’s Taiko Ensemble for three years and aiding their performances post-graduation
Teaching Experience: - Taught alongside UCR’s Taiko Instructor and performed with the ensemble for 3 years
-Aided in teaching instruments on and off throughout the 9 years, with less than a year teaching students piano and guitar to a proficient level
Teaching Philosophy: John Cage describes it the best in his piece, 4’33’’. His envision of the music was to show that music itself is all around us, even if it is not the way we expect it to be. As such, my goal in every lesson is get you excited for the next, and to work with what you already know to create music that you once never thought would be possible! There is no wrong note per say, just a chord not yet discovered!

Hey, my name is Nieves Mejia and my biggest pride comes from the fact my name translates to Icecream; so it behaves to say that I bring Joy through my precédanse and am excited to work with you! Coming from musical background, I have such a passion in how music, and its variety of genres, influence people in their lives and daily decision. I graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of Art in Music, and loved every minute of the program as it showed music in a variety of cultures as well as the affect that the modern era of electricity has done to electrify the academia (pun intended). I love to work along side anybody to developed their passion and to aid anybody has always been one of my life mottoes and i hope that my passions sparks your musical adventures !
