      Get to know Patricia Griffiths

I began teaching at Music & Arts in January of 2014, after moving to the Fayetteville area. I started taking piano lessons when I was in 2nd grade, then added flute lessons a few years later. I was a member of the Southern California based Royal Cavaliers Youth Band, performing throughout the Western United States and Canada from 1968-1976. I studied music at Los Angeles Valley College and California State University, Northridge.

After taking a short break to marry and begin a family, I enjoyed accompanying church choirs, ensembles, and instrumental soloists. In 1990 began giving private piano lessons at the New Hope Performing Arts Academy in Fayetteville, GA. I have continued to teach in many of the various locations that I have lived with my now retired Army musician husband.

I enjoy teaching all levels and types/styles of music to young and old alike, incorporating technique, theory, music history and musical artistry into each lesson.

I like to prepare my students for recitals, because that experience creates goals and teaches them about poise and public performance. But my real reward comes from working with them each week. A performance might last for three minutes, but lessons they learn through practice last for a lifetime, whether they continue with music study or not.

My goal is to allow each student to enjoy their musical experiences and inspire them to seek and discover for themselves all the joys that music can bring.
