Teaching Experience:
Taught saxophone since 2017 and the rest of the woodwind family since 2020. Teaches up to classical theory and advanced jazz theory. Sprayberry HS Woodwind Instructor/Technician since 2020.
Teaching Philosophy:
My first and foremost goal is to have you/your student get the most enjoyment out of music as possible. I do not have a set curriculum nor do I teach from specific books. Instead I like to set various short term/long term goals and will adjust the content of our lessons depending on what will be the easiest path forward!
Get to know Raphael De Jesus
Raphael de Jesus teaches beginner to advanced flute and single-reed woodwinds and beginner to intermediate double-reed woodwinds. His encouraging lessons build excitement through favorite songs while developing scales, technique, reading skills, and strong fundamentals. Raphael teaches jazz, classical, pop, and funk, incorporating improvisation and jazz and classical theory as students progress. He creates a positive environment where mistakes are part of learning and often plays alongside students to build confidence. Raphael prepares students for district, All-State, GHP, and college auditions as well as jam sessions. Raphael studied Jazz Performance at Kennesaw State University and has taught woodwinds since 2017.
