About Russell Torres

My name is Russell Torres. I am a Christian and enjoy playing the trumpet and piano for my church and singing in various vocal groups in church. I also lead and arrange music for an instrumental ensemble at church consisting of piano, 3 flutes, 2 violins, 1 cello, 1 baritone, 1 trumpet, 3 alto saxes. I also teach the elementary and jr. high and sr. high choirs at the Christian School that is part of my church. I also teach a music theory/philosophy class at the Bible College that is an extension ministry of my church.

I started playing trumpet in 6th grade band and continued on with private lessons for a couple of years. I continued with Concert/Marching Band from 8th grade through 12th grade, but added in piano lessons in 10th grade. After graduating from high school, I went on to get my B.A. in Music with a Major on Trumpet and Minor on Piano. I started teaching private lessons my freshman year of college and continued on teaching for 16 years after obtaining my B.A.  I have played my trumpet for church since I was in high school and continue to do so to this present day. 

I got into computers and pursed a career in data processing for about 12 years, all the while playing trumpet and piano for church. I got out of the computer industry I was in for 12 years and then got back into private music lessons. I have enjoyed writing and arranging songs, and specifically arranging songs for my students. I enjoy teaching all ages.
