      Performance Experience: Ryan has been performing and touring in and outside of Columbus, Ohio for over 15 years. He has played with a variety of popular Columbus based bands such as; MojoFlo, The Andy Shaw Band, Mistar Anderson, Ginnesse and Black Eagle and many others.
      Teaching Experience: 10+ years of experience in private guitar instruction
      Teaching Philosophy: I believe that every student is different and requires a customizable lesson plan. We all have different musical preferences, levels of experience and goals for our selves and what we would like to accomplish musically. I dont believe any one single teaching method will work for every student. I prefer to work with my students on discussing individual goals lesson and then developing plans together in order meet their style of learning.

      Get to know Ryan Sullivan

      Ryan Sullivan received a BA from the OSU school of Music where he concentrated on jazz guitar studies. He has 9 years of progressive experience in the field of private guitar instruction. Ryan has been performing in and outside of Columbus with a wide variety of bands while playing an eclectic mix of musical genres. Currently he primarily performs with Andy Shaw Band and Mistar Anderson and in the past has performed with MojoFlo, G Finesse and Black Eagle, Andy Shaw Duo, Andy Shaw House Band, Lady Bird and the Throwbacks, The Common Drive, Jimmy Riggs, New Covenant Believers Church, Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, OSU Fusion ensemble and other various Columbus based groups.

       

      Ryan teaches acoustic and electric styles with students of all ages and varying levels of experience. He believes that every student requires individual customized goals and works together with his students in order to devise a lesson plan that meets their desires as an aspiring guitarist. Although he is trained in jazz studies and focus’s much of his current performance and compositions in Neo-Soul and live hip hop, Ryan is experienced in playing and teaching a wide range of popular styles such as; Jazz, Hip-Hop, Blues, Funk, Soul, Neo Soul, R&B, Reggea, Pop, Rock, Folk, Singer/Songwriter, Country, etc. He teaches both lead and rhythm guitar techniques, music theory, sight reading, song writing and composition, ear training, strumming/rhythmic patterns, improvising, finger picking, flat picking and many other essential guitar techniques.
