Sam Garr is a Kentucky native and has harnessed a passion for music with humble beginnings in clarinet and piano. While in Kentucky, Sam obtained a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in both Music Performance and Music Theory from Berea College. During his time as an undergraduate, he received a plethora of awards for his academic prowess and work as a music theory teaching assistant and collaborative pianist. In the summer of 2022, Sam completed an internship where he worked with a local church in rebuilding their choir program. In December of that year, he traveled to Mexico to study Latin American music, art, and culture.

Post-graduation, Sam transitioned to the University of Kentucky to begin work on his master's in music theory, receiving a teaching assistantship and various other scholarships and grants. During his third semester, he began work on a second master's in collaborative piano. While at UK, Sam performed with a variety of instruments and voice types, as well as various ensembles. In the fall of 2024, he was hired as an adjunct faculty member at Berea College where he collaborated and coached students in several genres including classical, jazz, musical theatre, and pop. Sam frequently traveled and performed across the state of Kentucky, performing with churches, choirs, and in solo and studio recitals. He also held a position as a pianist at the Governor's School for the Arts for two years.

In pursuit of furthering his education, Sam has migrated to Arizona to continue his study in collaborative piano at ASU, working towards obtaining both his master's and doctoral degrees in performance. For fun, he enjoys spending his free time either working on compositions or staying home and watching horror flicks!
