Get to know Samuel Alamillo
Sam has been a professional drummer and percussionist for over 18 years, Sam has collaborated with many fine international and local musicians including Tito Puente, Calixto Oviedo, Paoli Mejias, Jaime, Mariano, Sonia, Rolando and Ricardo Morales Matos, Steve Guasch, Julio Jauregqui, Carlos Cascante, Maelo Ruiz, Jovino Santos Neto, Jeff Busch and Johnny Conga. He has also toured with the band Nueva Era, a beloved Salsa band known for its high energy and musicianship.
Sam studied percussion at Indiana University and played in IU Latin Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Marian Morales-Matos and Dr. David Baker.
These days, Sam can be seen playing with Buena Vibra, Somewhere In Between, Full Circle, Mambo Cadillac, Tor Dietrichson Blues Machine and many other local musicians in the Northwest.
Sam has taught privately for a number of years and has worked with school bands, theater and ensemble tutoring in the Seattle area. He has performed throughout the West Coast and Midwest with performances at the Goodwill Games in Indianapolis, performed at Benaroya Hall, Triple Door, Pantages Theater Tacoma, and Bumbershoot, Northwest Folklife, among many more.
Sam is happy to announce that he recorded on Johnny Conga CD Oye! That CD won Northwest Earshot Recording of the year.
Sam teaches Drumset and a variety of other percussion at the Burien location on Tuesdays!
