Get to know Scott Gilbert
Scott Gilbert is a woodwind musician specializing in saxophone and clarinet. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Southern Wesleyan University, where he performed with a variety of ensembles and organizations, including the Mill Town Players in Pelzer and Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville. He was also a featured soloist with the Southern Wesleyan University Concert Choir.
After graduating from Southern Wesleyan University, Scott continued his education at Converse University, earning a Master’s degree in Saxophone Performance. During his time at Converse, he continued to develop his performance career, winning the Young Artist Competition and performing with a variety of ensembles, including the Back 9 Band, the Spartanburg Jazz Ensemble, and the Greenville Chamber Singers, where he appeared as a featured soloist. He has also performed in numerous pit orchestra productions, among many other musical opportunities.
Scott currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at Southern Wesleyan University. In addition to his collegiate teaching, he continues to teach private saxophone and clarinet lessons for students young and old. Scott is passionate about helping his students grow as both musicians and scholars.
