About Steve Seidenman
Get to know Steve Seidenman
Steve was born in Washington, D.C. and has lived and worked in Maryland most of his life. He acquired an early appreciation of classical music through the accomplished piano playing of his father. When it came time to consider learning an instrument himself, however, it was not the piano he selected, but rather, the guitar. And at the age of 8, he began acoustic guitar lessons at Wheaton Music , the community music store in his hometown of Wheaton. Within a year he decided to make a shift to classical guitar lessons after coming across a couple original LP records of the great guitarists Andres Segovia and Narciso Yepes in his father's record collection. He continued his guitar studies for several years with concert guitarists Jan Filip, Larry Snitzler and Myrna Sislen. He has also performed in master classes with guitarists Frederick Hand, Michael Cedric-Smith and Roland Dyens, as well as in a series of master classes in music interpretation with the eminent composer Guido Santorsola. He studied harmony with Robert Parris at the George Washington University, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland. He has released three CDs of solo guitar music and has made several guitar transcriptions.
