About Tyler Chen

Tyler was born and raised in Spring, Texas, where he started learning viola in his elementary school's Fifth Grade Strings Program. Since then, he has developed a passion for both music and community, valuing creative self-expression and collaboration with others as the core experiences of playing in an orchestra. Currently, Tyler is pursuing a Bachelor of Instrumental Music Education degree at Baylor University, with a concentration in viola, and is graduating in the fall of 2022. Afterwards, he will pursue a career in music education, hopefully starting with teaching high school orchestra in the Austin area. In his free time, Tyler likes to stay active by swimming, playing tennis, and running, as well as reading and hanging out with friends.
