About Zackary Papen

I have fifteen+ years experience playing guitar and studied music education at Delaware State University. During my time at University I played with several groups including students and staff at performances that were mostly local. Further experience includes participation in local open mics and various jam sessions (both jazz and blues).
When working with students my primary focus is providing a process oriented curriculum of general music education. This means that any potential student can expect to learn how sounds become music on the road to playing music rather than being innundated with scales and arpeggios from the start. Lessons become quickly focused on how this knowledge will allow students to communicate with other musicians as they take part in the communal tradition of music making. Students are going to learn guitar specific concepts, to be certain, but the goal at large is building a fundamental wealth of knowledge that will apply to each and every instrument.
