About Scott Orcutt

Scott Orcutt is a guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele teacher who works with beginner to advanced students, creating personalized lessons tailored to each student’s goals, interests, and learning style. His instruction covers scale and chord theory, ear training, improvisation, songwriting, music composition, and recording while exploring styles ranging from classical and jazz to rock, blues, reggae, funk, punk, and metal. Scott believes every lesson should be engaging, practical, and fun, helping students build the skills to perform, start a band, or simply enjoy making music. With over 37 years of teaching experience, including work with the Governor’s School for the Arts, Scott has performed with numerous bands throughout the Hampton Roads area since 1989.
