About Stephan Mccants

Stephan McCants is a brass teacher who works with students from beginner through college level on trombone, tuba, euphonium, trumpet, and F horn. His lessons focus on building strong technique, musical understanding, and confidence while helping students connect with music they personally enjoy. Stephan combines his classical training with experience in brass bands to teach music theory, sound development, improvisation basics, and practical performance skills in a relaxed and encouraging environment. He strongly encourages students to perform whenever possible, whether through recitals, honor bands, youth orchestras, or festivals, helping them grow as confident musicians. Stephan studied Trombone Performance at Virginia Commonwealth University and performs with ensembles including the Northern Neck Orchestra, Richmond Philharmonic, and Kings Dominion Brass Band.
