NAMM 2016, as you probably know by now, is the event at which all the major players in the music making equipment industry unveil the new gear that you'll be playing with throughout the year. This was my first NAMM and I’ve chosen a few things that I wanted to highlight from my time at NAMM. Two of the products that I have a fun time getting familiar with was Vandoren’s new V21s and Juno Reeds. I also got some hands on experience with some Silverstein ligatures.
For Parents of a young musician, the Juno reed would be on the top of my shopping list! These reeds are designed with a special cut just for students. This means they and help your beginning musician sound anything but, which helps them play more and ultimately love music more. For those who aren’t beginners the V21 reed combines the conical shape of a 56 Rue Lepic reed with a V.12 profile. This unique combination makes all registers more accessible with warmth and a depth of sound. It will allow you to play with amazing presence and immediate response.
I also got to speak with a representative of Sliverstein and to talk about Silverstein Ligatures. He explained how each ligature is handmade piece by piece using the finest materials. The custom cord is created with the same technology and manufacturing process as the cords used on the “Sky Crane” that lowered the Mars Rover onto the surface of another planet.
These where all cool products to get to know and the best part is that they can all be purchased at our store or even ordered online so feel free to stop by the shop and pick up some when you can!
