About Adia Evans

Adia Evans is a recent graduate of University of Maryland, where she pursued a degree Voice Performance under the tutelage of tenor, Gran Wilson. Recent operatic credits include the Sorceress in the OperaTerps’ production of Dido and Aeneas. Evans is a proud alumni of Baltimore School for the Arts, where she performed several partial roles Susanna/Le Nozze di Figaro, Pamina/Die Zauberflöte, Contessa Almaviva/Le Nozze di Figaro. During her time at University of Maryland, she toured with the UMD Chamber Singers to the National Collegiate Choral Organization conference in Charleston, SC, and the 10th World Symposium for Choral Music in South Korea.  She has appeared with the National Symphony Orchestra and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. As a concert artist, Evans made her orchestral debut with the UMD Symphony Orchestra in performances of Verdi's Te Deum. She has also appeared as a soloist in UMD's Bach Cantata Series in a performance of Cantata 106, Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit and Cantata 23 Du wahrer Gott und Davids Sohn. This season, Evans was selected to sing for University of Maryland's Main Commencement and selected by the School of Music faculty to perform in the Honor's Recital. Evans has been a section leader at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for the past five years.

Evans's position at Music & Arts is her first teaching opportunity and she is excited to take on new students. During her music education studies, she was fascinated by translating the technique of bel canto singing into different genres. Her overall teaching goal is to give her students the tools to take on learning and improving their skills on their own as well as in the classroom. She is looking forward to meeting you all
