About Alexandr

Born in Kishinev, Moldova, I began my musical training at the age of six and in 1999 came to the United States where I continued my musical studies at the Lucy Moses School at Kaufman Center in New York. In 2004, I was accepted to the Juilliard School on a full scholarship into the class of Professor Masao Kawasaki. I remained at the Juilliard School for my graduate studies under the tutelage of renowned violinist and pedagogue, Sylvia Rosenberg.

For over a decade since my orchestral debut at the age of ten with the Moldova Symphony Orchestra performing Kabalevsky Violin Concerto, I have impressed audiences with my unique style and breathtaking performances. As a versatile violinist, I am equally at ease as a soloist, teacher, chamber musician, and orchestra leader. My restless curiosity and multifaceted musical interests have taken me from classical performances with acclaimed pianists including Svetlana Smolina and Frank Levy to pop performances with the Gorillaz and world renowned Croatian musician, Oliver Dragojevic in Carnegie Hall.

With Lorelei Piano Trio, I have performed Beethoven’s  Triple Concerto with the Farmington Valley Philharmonic. As a soloist, I have performed Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto on my Eastern European tour, which included the Pridnestrovian National Symphony Orchestra in Moldova and the Kharkiv Philharmonic Orchestra in the Ukraine. For Piccolo Spoleto Festival I performed Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen with the Summerville Community Orchestra, and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. Additionally, I joined the Lumina String Quartet in many performances across New England and performed solo recitals with pianist, Svetlana Smolina, debuting Stephen Dankner’s Violin Sonata at the composer’s request. In 2013 I joined the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra (Denmark) as the leader of second violins.
