Learning to create and appreciate music stimulates the mind and can allow you to see the world in brand new ways.-Ms.Alex Ward
Hey! My name’s Alex. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 10 years old. When I started I was all about playing hard and classic rock, but as I got older I started to become interested in a variety of different styles of music. I earned a degree in Music Performance from Guilford college, with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. There I focused my studies on classical guitar. I’ve taught at several music programs and music camps over the years, including B Natural Academy of Music and the Arts, and Girls Rock camp in Durham. I also enjoy building and repairing electric guitars.
I believe that music can be an amazing outlet for everyone, and also a great confidence builder. Everyone learns at different rates and in different ways, and I try to teach in the way that best fits that individual. My key teaching strategies are patience, communication, and fun. The best way to learn is to play the music you love, and discover a passion for playing. Learning to create and appreciate music stimulates the mind and can allow you to see the world in brand new ways.
I teach Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, and Ukulele; along with how to read music
