About Mrs. Chris
I have taught voice for well over a decade, and my strength lies in teaching the average person how to sing better and with proper technique. I have worked with many students over the years who are church musicians who have a desire to either learn to sing, or to improve their technique so that they can sing better and longer. Voice lessons can start at age nine, when students begin to have some control of their diaphragm.
Mercer University in Atlanta is where I received my formal college training, and I studied piano with Lois Finlay, Voice with Barbara Dean, and Theory with B.J. Sutherland. I completed my degree online at Liberty University. I love learning, and am constantly striving to better myself! I am a member of several Piano Teachers groups online, and participate regularly in webinars and workshops in order to glean new ideas that will help me be a better teacher.
I am an active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), as well as the corresponding state and local organizations, where I am currently serving as Secretary and Placement Chair (GCMTA).
Serving as a church musician for over twenty years has been a great joy and privilege of mine. Though I do not serve in that capacity at this point in time, I do lead a church music workshop for a local church, and am a substitute pianist at various churches. I have been happily married for twenty five years, and have two beautiful daughters, who also love music.
