About Daniel Peterson

I have over 20 years teaching and performing in the Philadelphia region. As reed player (sax, clarinet & flute) my focus has been on Jazz music but involved every genre at some point or another: Salsa, Reggae, Rock, Brazilian, Modern Classical etc. I teach students with a balance of being prepared for school and personal goals, while trying to introduce them to music that develops a personal interest in their instrument.  As a performer I have played 100's of gig in the region at most of the important venues. I have released 4 albums of original music, have been awarded several compositional grants, organized a creative music festival and many concert events. My thesis for graduate school was a Chronology of Long Form Jazz Compositions creating a historical timeline of Jazz suites.  I love to dig into musical history and am an avid listener.
