About Denali

As an orchestral percussionist Denali is a member of the Tacoma Symphony and Federal Way Symphony and is an "extra"‚Äč for Northwest Sinfonietta, Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, Bellingham Festival of Music Orchestra, and Auburn Symphony.  He has backed artists including Ray Charles, Chicago, Evelyn Glennie, Frederica von Stade, and Patti Labelle.

As a drumset artist and auxiliary percussionist he has performed in dozens of groups ranging from funk big bands to rock, jazz, blues, and country rhythm-sections.  He has toured with bands including Lee Oskar & Friends (including memorable performances at Joy of Jazz 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa),Thomas Mapfumo (toured throughout the USA), Cracker Factory (tours and records as a founding member), and Uncle Pooch. As a studio performer he has worked with producers including Adam Kasper and Scott Colburn.

Denali continues to explore new and 20th century music for percussion.  His past performances include those with Stephen Drury, Seattle Chamber Music Society, Seattle Percussion Collective, Seattle Modern Orchestra, The Box is Empty, Loop 2.4.3, Quasar Quatuor du Saxophones, Spokane's ZEPHYR new music series, and Tacoma New Music.  He has premiered several new works including those of Stuart Saunders Smith.
