Ed Breazeale is a drum set performer, composer and educator. He’s had the good
fortune to perform with many jazz luminaries including: Phil Woods, Terell Stafford, Greg Osby,
Victor Goines, Peter Martin, Cyrus Chesnut, Billy Hart, Maria Schneider, Von Freeman, David
"Fathead" Newman, Bobby Broom, Nneena Freelon, Brad Goode, Andy Laverne, Jon Faddis,
Elliot Mason and Carlos Henriquez. Ed holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance from
the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and a master’s degree in jazz
performance and pedagogy from the University of Colorado. Currently, he is pursuing a
Doctoral degree from the University of Colorado.
From 2016-2018, Ed was the Visiting Assistant Professor of Percussion at the University
of Wyoming (UW). At UW, Ed oversaw all facets of the percussion area including teaching all
applied percussion students, percussion ensemble, percussion methods and jazz ensemble.
Previously, Ed held the position of lecturer in percussion at the University of Colorado-Denver
(2012-2016). In addition to teaching applied percussion at UC Denver, he taught classes in
music theory, ear training, jazz improvisation and directed the UC Denver Pop/Rock Ensemble.
Since 2012, Ed has been an Artist-In-Residence at the Denver School of the Arts (DSA). At
DSA Ed, along with fellow percussionist Greg Harris, has formed the DSA Percussion
Ensemble, the DSA Drum Set Armada and coordinated the DSA Percussion Camp.
