Elliot has been passionate about music since he began taking clarinet lessons at age 9. In fact, he purchased his first clarinet at the Horsham location before it was owned by Music and Arts. A few years later, he began studying guitar, bass, saxophone, theory, improvisation, and composition. He enjoyed playing in the All-Philadelphia High School Jazz band and eventually was able to continue studying music at the collegiate level, while completing his bachelor’s degree in psychology.
As a performer, Elliot has been a core member of original groups as well as cover bands. He still performs with various groups in the Philadelphia area as a guest musician or substitute. Elliot has completed horn arrangements for local cover bands, various mummers organizations, and composed original music for local artists.
Elliot is in his 4th year as musical director of a local brass band, as he selects and arranges most of the band’s music. He also helps direct the band during performances and parades.
Elliot customizes each student’s curriculum to balance learning basic techniques while also focusing on the student’s personal interest. While learning and playing music is difficult, it should also be fun and Elliot has formulated a method to ensure lessons are educational and fun from the start. Based on his study of theory and diverse performing experience, he is able to teach any style with patience and a smile!
