Erika Mapus (formerly Erika Platton) was born in Youngstown, Ohio and was very active in the arts community growing up. While attending Carnegie Mellon University, Erika performed for the Imani Winds and played at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She has also been invited to the National Music Festival in Chestertown, MD, the Renova Music Festival in New Castle, PA and ARIA International Music Festival in South Hadley, MA. Her teachers include Tommy Thompson, Daniel McKelway, Lawrence McDonald and Joseph Kane. Erika is currently a member of the Salem Quaker City Band and is a substitute for The W.D. Packard Concert Band and various local chamber groups. She has been teaching clarinet and saxophone lessons since 2004, and enjoys enriching lives with music!
