Evan Gidley boasts an impressive resume as a bandleader, composer, and woodwind artist fluent in both classical and jazz performance. He has performed at a number of the United States’ most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall and Jazz at the Lincoln Center. As a soloist, Evan has appeared with the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, Indiana University Fort Wayne Community Orchestra, and the University of Cincinnati Chamber Players, performing Darius Milhaud's' La creation du monde. Evan is a member of the award-winning Rhine Saxophone Quartet, a group that won the 2017 Ohio Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition and was selected as a semifinalist in the 2018 North American Saxophone Alliance Conference Saxophone Quartet Competition. In addition, he formed the Evan Gidley Quartet in 2015, a group that maintains an active performance schedule in Fort Wayne, IN. In 2015 and 2017, Evan was a selected member of the Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma National Intercollegiate Band, and he appeared in Music for All’s Honor Band of America in 2012. He was previously selected to partake in the American Saxophone Academy, a week-long event limited to 40 of the nation's best collegiate concert saxophonists. In addition to Evan’s current work as a freelance jazz, classical, and pit orchestra musician throughout the states of Ohio and Indiana, he serves as a private woodwind instructor for students grades 5-12. Evan’s students have earned Gold ratings at Indiana’s District and State Solo and Ensemble contests and have been selected to perform in regional honor bands. Evan holds a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from Indiana University Fort Wayne. His previous teachers include James Bunte, Rick VanMatre, Nathan Nabb, Farrell Vernon, and James Ator.
