About Joshua

Having made his solo debut at the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall in 2008, Joshua Burgos is carving his path as a performer, educator and music advocate. An active solo and chamber musician, recently Joshua has performed at University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, Montgomery County Community College and the United States Mint. Fall of 2013, Joshua attended the United States Mint Hispanic Heritage Observance, where he was guest artist and speaker. He performed music repertoire by Latino composers, and performed his arrangements of Latino folk music for solo viola. In addition to an active performance career, he also enjoys serving communities through performance and teaching. Joshua enjoys a dynamic career in the field of music education. He currently teaches viola, violin and music theory in Philadelphia and Montgomery County, and has also given master classes to young violists and violinists. Summer of 2012, Joshua accepted full-scholarship to attend the Institute for Musicianship and Public Service, a program in Providence, Rhode Island that explores and cultivates the role of service in the careers of emerging young artists in the 21st century. Joshua is recipient of the Tarisio Matching Grant, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Award, as well as receiving scholarship for undergraduate studies at Temple University Boyer College of Music and Dance. He studied viola with Victoria Voronyansky of the Juilliard School of Music and studied chamber music with Luis Biava and Helen Kwalasser. Joshua holds Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University.
