Julie Coad has always been drawn to the art of expression through music. From 1930's jazz, classical music, to modern pop and contemporary worship, Julie thrives from the continual pursuit of music. Born in Concord, North Carolina, Ms. Coad found her musical start in the Arts Evangelica and The Arts Experience. In 2003, her family moved to Tampa, Florida where Julie had the opportunity to study music with Dr. Gackle through the Gulf Coast Youth Choirs. There she learned compositions in over 16 different languages and became attuned to over 8 different voice parts. Competing in national and international festivals, Julie had the privilege of traveling to places such as New York, California, and China to perform. While studying Music Education at Hillsborough Community College, Julie was the administrative assistant for the College of Music. There she had the opportunity to study theory, sight-singing, jazz piano and more under the direction of Professor Winslow. After receiving her AA in Music Education from HCC, Julie continued her education at Florida State University where she studied voice with Dr. Guyer, Dr. Brister and Professor Okerlund. Receiving her Bachelors in Music Education with Choral Emphasis, Ms. Coad became the Choral Director for Oak Grove Middle School. Upon her return to North Carolina, Julie became the Choral Director at a school in Greensboro. Ms. Coad has taught private and group lessons in voice, piano, composition and guitar at Bigel Studios, Excel Music Studio, Mason's School of Music, and 4-D Studios. Julie is very excited to join the team at Music and Arts and looks forward to continuing her passion of enabling others to express through the vehicle of music.
Lessons are based on the goals of the student. Ms. Coad adapts her lesson plans according to the students' needs and ambitions.
