About Julie

Julie
Womble Trkula graduated from George Mason University in 2008 with her B.M. in
Flute Performance, and Post-Baccalaureate certificate in Leadership Studies.
While studying music, she performed with the University’s Wind Symphony, the
Chamber Orchestra, University Chorale, and in the "Staccatos" woodwind quintet.
Julie won spots in several national ensembles by audition, which resulted in
performances at Carnegie Hall: in January 2007, she was selected for and
performed with the National Festival Orchestra under the direction of Benjamin
Zander; and in May 2005, she was selected for the National Wind Ensemble under
the direction of H. Robert Reynolds.  In March 2003, she performed with the
National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center as part of the Youth Orchestra
Day program.  Julie has performed in numerous pit orchestras for local and
community musicals.  Julie was a student of Prof. Judith Lapple and Mrs. Janet
Memoli.  She has been teaching private flute, piccolo, and recorder lessons
since 2003
and
routinely does private gigs and performs in chamber ensembles in the Washington,
D.C. area.  Julie works full time at George Mason University, and is the General
Manager of the Green Machine Ensembles.
