piano, flute, tin whistle, hammered dulcimer
Since discovering my love for music during elementary school in the 60’s, I've performed on flute with concert & marching bands, flute choirs, orchestras, symphonies, church choirs, jazz ensembles,... even a German polka band & a bluegrass band! On piano, I often accompany young musicians during their Solo competitions, and continue to play keyboard for the annual Walk to Emmaus 4-day retreats in Texas & New Mexico. In addition to piano & flute, I play a mean Hammered Dulcimer! I've performed in 5 foreign countries (Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and most recently The Czech Republic). I'm playing or singing with an ensemble or a choir on a weekly basis. I’ve played piano for 45 years and flute for 52 years!
Piano, Flute, Music Theory, Piccolo
My teaching experience spans 47 years. I’ve been teaching private lessons (on several instruments) continually since my sophomore year of high school (1972); and have taught band, orchestra, choir, handbells, percussion, color guard, Music Theory, Music History, & Art History at elementary, middle school & high school levels. Having taught in both public and private schools, I bring extensive experience as an award-winning flutist and orchestral soloist, band and orchestra director, choral conductor, conservatory director (managing staff of 20 teachers & 70+ students), composer, arranger, TMEA adjudicator, clinician and touring musician to my piano studio. Students reap the benefits of studying with an accomplished teacher who has worked on both sides of the podium, behind the scenes as well as on center stage.
