About Kasey

Kasey Horton, born and raised in North Carolina, started playing the
viola in public middle school. Her first teacher was Jesse Suggs, who
she learned a lot of the basic things about music from at Jamestown
Middle School. In her first four years of playing she was accepted
into many regional, and state orchestras. After a year of playing in
the Greensboro Youth Symphony, she auditioned at North Carolina school
of the Arts in Winston Salem. She was accepted at the age of 15, moved
out of her home to board there, and started her serious viola studies
with world renowned Ulrich Eichenauer. Two years after attending the
conservatory, her original instructor left to pursue other opportunities but Kasey continued her studies there with Sheila Brown. After four years of attending the school of
arts she went on to live in Greensboro, to continue her education at
the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Guilford College,
where she graduated. Her main music project is the violist for The
Wright Avenue, but has also done several projects with various
artists. Kasey Horton has taught private to classroom size music
lessons for the past 8 years, currently teaches K-12 strings, and also
teaches private lessons for viola, violin and cello.
