Areas of Instruction
Katelyn Bell is a senior at Christopher Newport University, who is currently earning her Bachelor’s degree in choral music education. Katelyn found her love for music at the age of 7 when she first started playing the piano and continued that interest by enrolling in her middle school’s choir. Her decision to pursue a degree in music came easily and stemmed from her years of thrilling education from her music instructors. Katelyn began teaching private voice and piano lessons over the summer of her collegiate sophomore year, and also gave instruction to her fellow music students in ear training and music theory. Katelyn is excited to further develop you or your child’s passion in music; whether that passion is to become a classically trained musician or to learn for fun! Katelyn is currently the director of CNU’s vocal jazz ensemble Uncommon Ground, which performs in a variety of styles from Spanish samba to standard ballads. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in music, Katelyn will continue her education at CNU’s Master’s of Teaching program and hopes to teach music at any education level. The only trouble for her will be in deciding which age group to focus on!
