Kathryn Blaser, soprano, is an Omaha native. She made her singing debut at the age of five at her brother’s baptism. Her love of choral music grew out of early experiences with Nebraska Choral Arts Society, Marian High School's Select Women’s Choir and the Chamber Choir and singing in Creighton's choral program. Participation in Chamber Choir inspired her to switch her major from biology to music. Kathryn serves as president of the Creighton University Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. A. Barron Breland. She was a student of Diane Owens, Soprano. Professional production experience includes serving as Assistant Musical Director for The Wizard of Oz and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Papillion-LaVista Community Theater with Stephen Sheftz, Creighton’s music theatre director. Competitions include twice competing in the National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions and the Mid-America Music Teachers Association festival. Kathryn was a teaching assistant at Miss Jen Music Instruction teaching music theory and was also employed at Lakeside Village retirement community. Kathryn is currently pursuing a Master of Music Therapy degree at the University of Kansas and hopes to share her love of choral music with senior citizens.
