About Kay G. Belangia

Kay Belangia began her guitar teaching career at 16 in Stanley's Music Shop in Kinston, North Carolina.  She loved teaching so much that she got a B.S. Degree in Music Education from Atlantic Christain College and a Master's of Music Degree from East Carolina University.  She continued teaching in Washinton State at Pat's Desert Music and in several music stores in Las Vegas Nevada.  In Las Vegas she was also an adjunct guitar professor at UNLV and taught in the Alexander Dawson School.

Kay studied guitar performance at the North Carolina School of the Arts in the summer of 1977 to prepare for her senior recital.  She was performing folk music beginning in junior high chool and went on to study classical guitar in college.  She has performed in many weddings, church services, civic events and in casinos while she lived in Las Vegas.  She performed as a solo performer, as well as in two different flute and guitar duos.  While in Las Vegas she was a member of the Las Vegas Guitar Ensemble.

In Santa Fe, New Mexico, she recorded her Christmas guitar CD called "Tis the Season."  The CD has both classical and fingerstyle jazz selections.

Kay loves teaching people to enjoy playing the guitar.  She encourages her students to have good practice habits  so they can gain confidence ithrough playing.  The styles she offers are folk, fingerstyle and classical.  She also enjoys teaching people to sing and play together.  Beginning chord-melody playing is also an option.

Please come join me in exploring the wonderful world of guitar!
