About Laura Callon

Born in New Orleans, LA, violinist Laura Callon moved to Houston, TX when she was eight. She began studying violin when she was ten and has been playing ever since. She completed her Bachelors of Music in violin performance in 2014 at the University of Houston Moores School of Music under the instruction of Dr. Kirsten Yon.

Laura’s studies have brought her around the country, performing with the Moores School Symphony Orchestra in Chicago, IL and with the Eastern Music Festival student orchestras in Greensboro, NC. She also spent two summers in London, England, where she attended the Cambridge International String Academy, focusing on violin technique and solo performing. She currently is a member of the violin section of the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra in College Station, TX.

Laura joined the Music & Arts Sugar Land teaching staff in January of 2014 and has thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with her talented students. After almost two decades of playing the violin, Laura is still finding new and exciting aspects of music that continue to inspire her performing, as well as her teaching. She hopes to help motivate her students to love music, too, and to enjoy the journey of learning how to play the violin.
