Marie Harang fell in love with trombone in kindergarten, but had to wait until fourth grade to play one, and even then her arms weren't quite long enough! That hasn't stopped her from playing trombone for the last 21 years. She started teaching trombone to beginning young students when she was in high school, and pursued a degree in music education from the University of North Texas where she learned how to teach and play any instrument in a band classroom. She has since taught brass lessons privately for several school districts around Austin and Dripping Springs, as well as played in the Maui Pops Orchestra, and several gig bands around Austin.
Marie believes that every student should have fun playing their instrument. Whether it's Mozart or Macklemore, students can enjoy the full experience of learning how to play, perform, and love their instrument. Marie's teaching style is a mix of fundamentals, body and posture work and awareness, and rote learning of the student's favorite melodies to build tonal strength and focus on the student's sound and familiarity with their instrument.
