About Marina

Marina Tucker has been teaching and playing violin professionally for over ten years. A longtime member of both the Gainesville and Ocala Symphony Orchestras, Marina has also performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, Central Florida Master Choir, Village Voices Choir, New Moon String Ensemble, and the International Chamber Ensemble, among others. Most recently, Marina was appointed Principal Second Violin of the Imperial Symphony Orchestra in Lakeland, FL.

In addition to her rigorous performance schedule, Marina teaches violin and viola at Music & Arts (formerly Great Southern Music) in Gainesville, FL. She also teaches at the College of Central Florida in Ocala, FL, where she prepares violin and viola students for music careers, and directs the CF String Ensemble.

Marina’s teaching philosophy reflects her work with numerous students in diverse settings. She customizes her approach to fit the goals and learning strengths of each individual student. Combining different teaching methods helps her students gain proficiency at their instruments, enables their self-learning, and builds their confidence.

Marina holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music, from the University of Florida, where she studied violin with Dr. Janna Lower and Dr. Luis Fernandez.
