"He balances flash with finesse in a totally winning way. If Frank Zappa had started and stayed in jazz, he might sound like Stockbridge."- Michael Witthaus, The Hippo Press

In 2009 he released his first full length, self-titled album as a bandleader which has been met with many positive reviews; proving that Mike Stockbridge is a uniquely fresh voice in the New England jazz scene. His second album Ama gained high accolades fromallaboutjazz.com:

"Just two albums into his recording career and Mike Stockbridge is solidifying his reputation as one of the East Coast's most promising jazz guitarists. Stockbridge's second effort, Ama, jolts the imagination with his inventive and compelling playing. Stockbridge released his self-titled debut in 2009; two years later, Ama finds Stockbridge gaining confidence and focus, creating a work of bold experimentation and stunning precision."
