About Michael

I began formal lessons at age nine and became heavily involved touring with Drum Corps International (DCI) by the age of sixteen, studying under world-class drummers. I pursued private study throughout my life, and am self-taught piano/keyboard, guitar, bass, and sound engineering. Music theory and the core knowledge of many instruments is a special focus of mine, as having a solid foundation is vital to really learning an instrument.

I have had nine years as both a private in-home instructor and as a contracted teacher in several schools.

For several years I have played in some of the top DCI drumlines across the country. Began playing professionally at the age of twenty-one in live bands and on recorded projects. Currently involved with several bands in the Seattle area in multiple genres.

All music is influential to me in some way, but main sources of inspiration come from classical music, jazz, classic rock, and progressive genres.
