About Nicholas Skinner

Nick Skinner is a freelance trumpeter, composer/arranger, and music educator living in the Richmond area. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in Jazz from Virginia Commonwealth University. His primary teachers include Brian Strawley (Assistant Principal Trumpet, Richmond Symphony), Rex Richardson (International Soloist and Yamaha Performing Artist), Antonio Garcia (Director of Jazz Studies, Virginia Commonwealth University), and Doug Richards (founder of both the Virginia Commonwealth University Jazz Program and the Great American Music Ensemble).

Nick currently holds the position of lead trumpet for the Johnny Peyton Renaissance Big Band (to which he's also a contributing composer/arranger), Soul Providers, New Encounters, Evolution of the Groove, and most recently the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.
