About Patrick Hickey

Patrick Hickey began playing the Clarinet at the age of ten and from there, went on to pursue his passion of music. He currently holds a Bachelors in Music Performance from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music and a Masters in Music with an emphasis in Music Theory from the University of Akron. While at Baldwin Wallace, Patrick studied chamber music, performing works by Nielsen, Mozart and Khachaturian. Patrick’s principal teacher at Baldwin Wallace was Daniel Mckelway, Assistant Principal and E flat Clarinetist with the Cleveland Orchestra. During his graduate work, Patrick studied with Kristina Belisle Jones, former principal of the Akron Symphony Orchestra and held the Graduate Clarinet Assistant ship, teaching undergrad Clarinetists and coaching chamber music. Patrick has performed in master classes given by Ayako Oshima, Charlie Neidich, Frank Cohen, Todd Levy, Thomas Reed, Jonathan Cohler, Imani Winds, and the United States, Pershing’s Own, Woodwind Quintet. Recently, Patrick has played with the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra, as Second Clarinetist and with the renowned Blossom Festival Band, comprised of members from various orchestras. Patrick Hickey is also looking to pursue a Doctorate in Music Arts in the future and become a Clarinet Professor and professional musician.
