About Tad Margelli

Tad Margelli teaches Oboe and English Horn.  He occupies the English Horn chairs of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra and the Auburn Symphony.  He pursued undergraduate studies at Pacific Lutheran University and at the Curits Institute of Music (as a student of John de Lancie.)  He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Washington, where he studied with Laila Storch and served on several occasions as Acting Oboist with the Soni Ventorum Wind Quintet. 

He has been a lecturer in oboe at Central Washington University, where he founded the Central Double Reed Band.  He was Principal Oboist for the Bolshoi Ballet's Seattle performances in June 2000, and he has also performed engagements with the Seattle Symphony, the Seattle Opera Orchestra, the Oregon Symphony, the Spokane Symphony, the Philadelphia String Quartet, St. Mark's Cathedral (Organ Plus Recital Series and Compline Service,) the Pacific Norhthwest Chamber Chorus, the Seattle Bach Choir, the Max Aronoff Viola Institute, the Second City Chamber Series, and the Baroque Collective (on baroque oboe.) 

He has been a contributing author for publications of the International Double Reed Society; his most recent article concerns the life and career of the nineteenth-century Covent Garden oboist Apollon Marie Rose Barret.
