Ruth has over 30 years of teaching experience. She has taught at Cornell University and directed the string department at St. Joseph School of Music (St. Paul, MN's largest community music school). She currently runs the string program at Music Tree Preparatory School in Zachary.
Suzuki, Classical, Fiddle, Bluegrass, Blues, Cajun, Jazz, Ruth draws from several different teaching methods (including Suzuki) to build a customized program for each student. She teaches a variety of styles, including classical, fiddle, and jazz. Her students sound good and have fun, some going on to conservatories and professional careers.

Ruth is proficient in many different styles of playing, having appeared onstage with such artists as Smokey Robinson, George Benson, and the Moody Blues, to name a few. She has performed with various symphonies and chamber groups including the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Baton Rouge Symphony, and Opéra Louisiana. Several of her students formed the Breakthrough Girls fiddle band which has played in a number of venues. Ruth herself has performed the role of Ray-Bob the Fiddler in ALWAYS PATSY CLINE at Swine Palace and Theatre Baton Rouge. A recording artist as well, she has worked on several CDs, both as a backup musician and as a member of the eclectic string band Water Bear.
