About Sheri Mortimer

Sheri Mortimer is highly renowed award-winning teacher who can teach a wide variety of folk, classical, and world music styles. She began her teaching career with teaching oboe in the 1970s. She received her B.F.A. in Music from Penn State University and her Masters Degree from Wesleyan University. She also studied voice and voice pedagogy with Lucy Hayes Davis at the Hartt College of Music. She is a former member of the Orcesta Sinfonia Del Noroueste del Mexico. She received an award for Excellence in Music Teaching from the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and was awarded first place for singing in Irish from the Mid-Atlantic Fleadh Ceol. She is currently a vocalist at the Middlesex World Cultural Festival, Newport Irish Festival, Danbury Irish Festival, and other venues.

Sheri can teach all levels of voice, oboe, and harp. She also teaches folk guitar and fiddle. All levels all welcome-from the very beginner, to someone who is prepping for professional-level auditions.
